Forest School
“Forest School is an inspirational process that offers children and young people opportunities to achieve , develop confidence and self esteem, through hands on learning experiences in a local woodland environment”. The Forest School (England) Network.
Forest School in the UK has been adapted from a Scandinavian approach to learning where access to outdoor environments at all times of year and in all weathers is normal. The children quickly learn boundaries within which they must work. They respond to the sense of freedom and follow the rules for their safety. They go out in all weathers. They explore and use natural materials found in the forest. Within a safe environment it is possible to encourage the children to move away from close adult interaction and to become more responsible for each other and themselves.
Miss Batham is our fully qualified Forest School Leader.
Parents are invited to sessions held throughout the school year.
This is the best kind of classroom,
It’s a journey through time and space,
From the smallest seed to the largest tree,
This is a Forest and a learning place.
This is the best kind of classroom,
Where the seasons don’t happen in books.
Where the earning is watching and thinking and talking
And everyone notices, everyone looks.
